2. RHS Garden Rosemoor

RHS Garden Rosemoor. The original garden, created by Lady Anne Berry, is a true plantsman's garden. The whole of Rosemoor is surrounded by woodland, and the acidic soil and valley-bottom location proffer their own challenges, as despite a generally mild climated, the garden is subject to frosts from October through to May. Highly ornamental gardens with shrubs, roses, perennials and bulbs were established during the first ten years of the gardens' life, and now the emphasis has shifted to more extensive, long-term projects. For example, the surrounding woodlands have been purchased and are being carefully managed to reintroduce native trees and wild flowers - and of course encourage wildlife.

Today 11am until 4pm in the Lecture Hall is the Travel Show held by Penny Furseman Travel. Come along to the Travel Show to discover your ideal holiday. 4. Dartmoor Intro to Rock Climbing Course

17th May - £40

A one day course based on Dartmoor, probably at Hound Tor depending on the weather. If you’ve never climbed before but always fancied the challenge, or have climbed indoors but not outside, then this is the day for you.

Harnesses and helmets are supplied by the organisers, and they will have a selection of rock climbing shoes to try as well.

You’ll do lots of climbing, some bouldering and look at some essential technical skills such as belaying, tying on etc. Hound tor is a great spot for this, lots of little climbs both easy and hard and the bouldering is superb.

Daily Birds of Prey Display at 11:30am and 3:30pm - 05 April to 02 November 2014

Devon Bird of Prey Centre has teamed up with ESCOT to thrill visitors with interactive falconry displays and bird handling sessions.

With over 20 years of experience Karen and Julie are still passionate about birds and this comes across in their displays which showcase the natural abilities of the birds and wows visitors with demonstrations of the power and talent of these amazing creatures as they swoop through the crowds, flying  just over their heads!
