1. CITIES

If the cities take your fancy then Exeter and Plymouth both stand proudly  as two of England’s finest.

Exeter offers a stunning history with a beautiful Cathedral sitting centrally in the city. .

If you prefer to stand back and simply enjoy the sights then Plymouth is for you. Get a view from the sky of the city from Smeaton Tower or take a ride on Plymouth’s version of the London Eye – The Wheel of Plymouth.

If heights are not for you then enjoy the wonders of the ocean in the UK’s largest aquarium before tucking into Perillas Fish and Chips.

2. RHS Rosemoor, Great Torrington EX38 8PH

Rosemoor has plenty to do for visitors of all ages over Easter. - you can follow the Easter Garden Trail and see the Easter flowers.

Younger visitors can take part in the Easter Egg Trail, following the Easter clues around the garden, from Friday 2 until Monday 5 April (10am - 4pm).

The Garden Kitchen Restaurant is open from 10am daily. Call 01805 626822 for information

NB: dogs not allowed in the garden (except guide dogs)

The Brash: Our fantastic family picnic and play area, ‘The Brash’ is great for families to eat and play. The Copse Play Area with its unique ‘Green Ship’ and standing See Saw are great fun and the new Tubular Bells (above) which all help develop creative play.

Children's trail

Pick up a free children’s trail at the entrance kiosk, have fun following the clues, and take your completed trail to the shop before claiming your prize! There is a different version for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and the whole family can have fun spotting plants, insects and sights around the garden!

4. Bucks Mills Cabin open day with the Burton Art Gallery

Join us for a unique open day at the Bucks Mills Cabin to explore and meet with the Burton Art Gallery's Collection and Exhibition Officer Warren Collum.

This is a great opportunity to see inside The Cabin, used as an artists holiday retreat by Mary Stellar Edwards and Judith Ackland and left completely untouched since the 1970's. As well as National Trust staff on site to answer questions, the Burton's Collection and Exhibition Officer, Warren Collum, will be on site with examples of Ackland and Edwards work and to discuss the importance of the artists to the region. www.burtonartgallery.co.uk

8. Dartmoor Railway -

Dartmoor Railway is more than a train journey; it is the ideal way to explore the beautiful countryside of mid-Devon and the dramatic north flank of Dartmoor.

Combine your trip on the train with a walk or cycle ride, (note: cycles are available for hire from Okehampton Station) or simply enjoy the views from the train.

Dartmoor Railway is part of the former Southern Railway main line from London Waterloo to Plymouth and Cornwall, once the route of the famous Atlantic Coast Express and the Devon Belle Pullman. This scenic journey takes you through the rolling mid-Devon countryside from Exeter or Sampford Courtenay to Meldon, the highest railway station in the southern England, and inside the National Park, where you may walk across the impressive Meldon Viaduct and enjoy panoramic views of the highest Tors of Dartmoor.

There are trains from Okehampton all year round at weekends & Bank Holidays with additional services during the summer holidays. Dartmoor Sunday Rover trains run between Exeter & Okehampton on summer Sundays.

There is a Buffet & well known model shop at Okehampton the Visitor Centre, famous Viaduct and Buffet at Meldon. Cycle hire is available. We are wheelchair friendly too.

We think the Hyde family who used to live on Baggy Point would have enjoyed hunting for Cadbury Easter eggs as much as you will. 13. Funtastic Fudge Hunt in CLOVELLY EX39 5TA

April 18, 2014 to April 27, 2014

Starting on Good Friday, 20 fudge stones will be hidden in the village each day. Find one and take it to the Fudge Shop at the Visitor Centre and discover how much fudge you have won.

If you find Number 20, you will get a whole kilo of fudge, made up of 8 different flavours - what a treat! And you can come back and try again. One stone redeemable per visiting family per day.
